Christmas Questions of Fun !

Inspired by my brother and sister-in-law's posting from an earlier post, I thought I would have my own Christmas fun by asking you a few questions about this wonderful time of the year:

1. White Lights or Colored Lights?

2. If you have to pick one Christmas CD to play in your car, which one would it be?

3. What is your favorite Christmas movie?

4. Do you really like the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" or do you ask "What's all the hype?"

5. Live or fake Christmas tree?

6. Do you enjoy attending Candlelight services at a church on Christmas Eve?

7. Santa Clause 2 vs. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - pick one?

8. What is your favorite Christmas song that's the non-religious kind (you know, like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or Silver Bells)?

9. What is your favorite Christmas song that is about the birth of Jesus (O Holy Night, Silent Night, etc.)?

10. And last but not least ... what is your favorite Christmas memory you have?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!! 4 more days left !!
God bless you all,
SJ

NEVER REMEMBERED SEEING IT GROWING UP, BUT FINALLY WATCHED IT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO...AND I DO LIKE IT! I LOVE THE STORY OF PEOPLE'S GENEROSITY IN RESPONSE TO ONE MAN'S GENEROUS HEART (I LOVE THE TOWN RALLYING TO GEORGE BAILEY'S SIDE IN THE END!) I ALSO ENJOY THE TIME PERIOD IT IS SET IN....CORNY, I KNOW.

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TRADITIONS I MISS THE MOST...AND I PREFER IT TO BE THE MIDNIGHT CANDLELIGHT...MEET AT 10P AND END AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT AND GO TO BED! NOT MUCH ON THE 6P SERVICE...I ENJOY ALL THE RUNNIN' AROUND ON C.EVE FOR LAST MINUTE SHOPPING...THEN WHEN THE DAY COMES TO AN END...ALL THE HUSTLE/BUSTLE COMES TO A CLOSE...IT'S FUN TO GATHER TOGETHER WITH OTHER BELIEVERS AND SING CAROLS, HEAR "the story" AND LIGHT THOSE CANDLES. I LOVE IT!

I REMEMBER GETTING DALLAS COWBOY JERSEYS FOR CHRISTMAS! WHAT FUN! I ALSO REMEMBER THE FIRST CHRISTMAS THAT KELLY AND I DATED...SHARED HOT CHOCOLATE AT SIX FLAGS IN TEXAS JUST AFTER THANKSGIVING...TALKED ON THE PHONE SOME AND DATED SOME...THEN A FUNNY AIRPORT STORY ON CHRISTMAS EVE INVOLVING KELLY AND HER DAD!

Ok, here are the Smooth Johnny picks:

1) White Lights!
2) David Foster's Christmas (mainly b/c of the Michael Crawford version of O Holy Night)
3) Polar Express
4) Like my brother never saw it growing up. In fact, in 2005 I bought the DVD so I could watch the movie from beginning to end. Well... ehhhh ... not so much! I know I go against the grain on this but it really wasn't that good to me. In fact, the whole "Christmas" theme doesn't happen til the last 20 min of the movie it seems like. Sorry!
5) Live trees!
6) If I had my wish, I too like the midnight service. I'll take a 6 PM but I'd prefer the late night. We are going to the 10:45 service in the morning and they had better cover the windows with black plastic or else the sunlight will ruin the effect when someone opens the door to the auditorium. Love the caroling though.
7) Christmas Vacation is so funny - especially late at night when you are tired and still trying to wrap packages. But Santa Clause 2 is a close 2nd!! My kids love that one. And I think it was better than the 1st one.
8) It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!! Chesnuts is 2nd !!
9) O Holy Night - have I mentioned that before? But nothing like a good candlelight service singing Silent Night in acapella!
10) I remember getting tickets to a Cowboy game when I was at my Nana and Pop's house in Ft. Worth from my Uncle Tim. I remember riding the shuttle bus to the stadium. I remember saying to myself "I wonder if the hole in the roof at the stadium" is as big as this bus. WOW - was I in shock when I got the stadium and saw how big it really was. That was a great Christmas memory! But having my 3 boys and Kendra at Christmas - every year just gets better and better!!

10. And last but not least ... what is your favorite Christmas memory you have
When I was 12 my mother, Dad, Sister, Brother in-law, and every body else in the family had been laid off at the first of December. There was absolutely no money at all. The decision was made that gifts would only be bought (one each) for the little kids (neices and nephew). The rest of us would all wrap up three gifts, value not to exceed 25 cents each. All of these were placed in a tub. The tub was carried around the room three times higher than your head. Each time the tub passed by you reached in and grabbed one gift. I don't remember what I got (75 cents worth) but it was the most fun Christmas ever.
