May I have the rings please...

Kendra and I were recently at a wedding in downtown Dallas.   During the ceremony, when the ring bearer and flower girls walked by, we looked at each other and said, "Can you imagine Tyler doing this?" and then we both laughed.   (To ourselves mind you since the wedding was in progress).   Now, for those who are ready to turn us in for being unsupportive and unloving parents to our 3 yr. old, please hear us out.   We love Tyler to the inth degree (whatever that means!).   He brings us and so many others great joy.   However, ... Tyler is a 3 yr. old who is uniquely gifted in the art of clumsiness, wrecklessness and "inability-to-pay-attention or follow instructions-ness" ! HA   Ok, he is just 3 but it would be comical to watch him in a role of ring bearer at a wedding.

Well, let the games begin !!  Only two days after making that fateful comment to each other, we were approached by our friend/neighbor/babysitter, Traci Cooper, who asked us if we would allow Tyler to be the ring bearer in her wedding.  WOW !  Traci and Cory were going to use another child for the role but he couldn't make it so they had the idea of asking to see if Tyler would do it.   Tyler loves "Ms. Traci".   He loves it when she watches him every Monday afternoon.  He loves playing with her.  He loves just about everything about her.   Let's hope after October 9th, Traci feels the same way about him ! HA   Seriously, it's an honor to be parents of a child who is being asked to participate.   I know Tyler will do a great job !!

Traci and Cory have their own wedding website which I think is cool.  I don't know many who have done this but maybe I'm in the minority.  If you want to check it out, click here.    In the site, you'll see Tyler's name already listed as the ring bearer.

As a parent, this will be nerve-wracking and funny at the same time.  Fortunately, Traci and Cory are very laid back people who know what they are getting into by asking Tyler.   Personally, I think he will do a great job on "gameday" but practices good be interesting.  I  can't wait to see him in that tux walking down the aisle.   What a proud moment that will be.   If anyone has any tips for Tyler or Dad, please feel free to comment.  I think a camcorder to record this event will be top of the list !!

God bless you all,

SJ
